The Uros Islands of Lake Titicaca are man-made "floating" islands.  They are constructed out of dried reed gathered from the lake.    The islanders live in reed huts, but have solar power for lights, radio and even television.
The people of Uros also build reed boats.  Many have reed sails as well, and are decorated with faces of dragons, ducks or other animals.
The Island of Taquile, also on the Peruvian side of Lake Titicaca.  People here still dress traditionally and tend to speak in whispers.  It is a tranquil place.
